Caishen (財神), the God of Wealth, is welcomed into homes and shops at the start of every lunar year. On the fifth day, families light incense and set out fish, fruit and ingot-shaped dumplings to invite him in. His civil form, a smiling court official in robes holding a gold ingot, stands for prosperity earned honestly: the legend of Bi Gan says he has no heart, so he cannot play favorites when he shares fortune.
The figure alone, in a single ink and no words: soft gold on dark shirts, warm ink on natural. The quiet, monochrome version of the design.
