Durga is the warrior Mother of Hindu devotion. In the Devi Mahatmya the gods pour their combined radiance into one woman, and each places a weapon in her hands: trident, discus, conch, bow and more. Mounted on her lion, she faces the shape-shifting buffalo-demon Mahishasura with a serene face. Her victory is remembered through nine nights of Navaratri, in Bengal's clay-image Durga Puja, and on Vijayadashami, the tenth day.
A portrait of Durga in the devotional painting style of Hinduism. Durga is the warrior form of the Divine Mother, printed on museum-grade matte paper.
