Gabriel is the archangel who carries good news. In the Book of Daniel he explains a vision; in Luke's Gospel he tells Zechariah that a son will be born, then greets Mary in Nazareth with the news that she will bear Jesus. Artists show him with great wings and a white lily, the sign of that Annunciation. East and West honor him as a gentle herald of God's strength, and in 1951 Pope Pius XII named him patron of everyone who sends messages across distance.
A portrait of Gabriel the Archangel in the devotional painting style of Christianity: honored in the Catholic, Eastern and Oriental Orthodox, Anglican and Lutheran churches as the angel of the Annunciation [1][2][23]. Also named in Judaism, printed on museum-grade matte paper.
