“First things first.” Ganesha, The One-Tusked.
The story behind the line. It's about Ganesha, the elephant-headed god Hindus honour first, at the start of every rite, journey and new venture. He's Vighnaharta, the Remover of Obstacles, so devotees call on him before anything new begins, to clear the way. With Ganesha, it really is first things first.
Ganesha (गणेश), the elephant-headed son of Shiva and Parvati, is honoured first at the start of every rite, journey and new venture, because he removes obstacles and opens the way. One of his tusks is broken, which gives him the old name Ekadanta, the One-Tusked. He carries a goad and a noose, holds a sweet modaka and raises a hand in blessing, while his small mouse waits at his feet. Each year at Ganesh Chaturthi, families welcome clay images of him into their homes.
Printed on a heavyweight Comfort Colors garment-dyed sweatshirt, soft and lived-in.
