The story behind the line “How long must I put up with you?” It's Jesus in Matthew 17:17, in plain words. His disciples had just failed to heal a boy, and he says, "O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you?" It's a very human moment, even he got exasperated, and then he healed the boy anyway.
Jesus of Nazareth, a Jewish teacher of first-century Galilee, is worshipped by Christians as the Son of God and the Christ. The Gospels tell of his birth in Bethlehem, his healing of the sick, his meals with outcasts and his parables of lost sheep and wandering sons. Crucified in Jerusalem under Pontius Pilate, he was proclaimed risen on the third day. In Byzantine icons he raises his right hand in blessing and holds the Gospel book, a cross within his halo.
