Studio design: drawn with AI image tools to the iconography of Buddhism, checked against that tradition's rules and approved by a person. Captions are set in real type, never generated. Made to order in the USA.

Kūkai, honoured as Kōbō Daishi, was a monk from Shikoku who sailed to China, returned with the esoteric teachings, and founded Shingon Buddhism on Mount Kōya. Shingon holds that he never died but sits in deep meditation at Okunoin. On Shikoku, pilgrims walking the eighty-eight temples wear a sedge hat and carry a staff, trusting that the Daishi walks beside them, two travellers on one road.

A slim racerback tank for the studio and the street: the figure alone, in a single ink, no words.
