Mazu (媽祖), goddess of the sea, has watched over sailors and fishing families since the Song dynasty, when she was born on Meizhou Island in Fujian. In Taiwan she is loved like a mother: every spring hundreds of thousands of pilgrims walk for days to carry her through the countryside.
A portrait of Mazu in the devotional painting style of Taiwanese / Fujian Taoism, printed on museum-grade matte paper.
