The story behind the line “Land legs, sea heart.” It's a nod to the selkies, the seal-folk in the tales of Orkney and Shetland. The story goes that they live in the sea as seals, but on certain nights they slip off their skins and walk the shore as people. A selkie wife is said to always long for the sea, and she goes home once she finds her skin again.
In the Northern Isles they say the seals are not always seals. Selkies live in the sea in grey pelts, but on certain nights they slip the skin off and walk the shore as people, dancing in the moonlight. The skin is everything: whoever hides it holds its owner on land, and no hearth can hold her once she finds it again. Told in Orkney and Shetland, and along Irish and Faroese coasts, it is a tale of longing for home.
A Next Level 3633 cotton muscle tank, soft combed ring-spun cotton with dropped armholes, printed with the design and its line.
