Born Fernando in Lisbon in 1195, Anthony became a Franciscan friar and one of the most gifted preachers of his age. Crowds filled the squares of Italy and France to hear him, and in 1946 he was named a Doctor of the Church. He died at thirty-six, was canonized within a year, and is still asked for help when something goes missing. Artists show him as a young friar with a lily and the Christ Child resting on his book.
A portrait of St Anthony of Padua in the devotional painting style of Christianity: Roman Catholic, printed on museum-grade matte paper.
